How to Access an Oregon Psilocybin Service Center in 2026

How to Access an Oregon Psilocybin Service Center in 2026

Oregon's Measure 109, passed in 2020, created the world's first state-regulated psilocybin services program. After a lengthy rulemaking period, licensed service centers began operating in 2023. By 2026, there are approximately 30–40 licensed service centers operating in Oregon, most concentrated in Portland, Bend, Ashland, and Eugene. Here's how to access them.

Step 1: Find Licensed Service Centers

The Oregon Health Authority maintains the official list of licensed service centers at oregon.gov/oha/ph/PreventionWellness/marijuana/psilocybin. This is the authoritative source — it lists only centers that have passed the OHA licensing process.

You can also find centers through:

  • Oregon Psilocybin Services (OPS) directory on the OHA website
  • Psychedelic Support (psychedelic.support) — includes Oregon service centers with client reviews and facilitator profiles
  • Your State Listings section on this site

Do not use centers that are not on the OHA licensed list. Unlicensed operations exist and pose safety and legal risks.

Step 2: Research and Vet the Center

Not all licensed centers are identical. Key factors to evaluate:

Facilitator backgrounds: Oregon requires licensed facilitators to complete 160 hours of approved training. Some facilitators also hold licensed mental health professional credentials (LCSW, MFT, PhD). For therapeutic goals, the additional clinical background matters.

Clinical vs. spiritual orientation: Some centers take a more clinical approach (explicit therapeutic goals, evidence-based protocols); others are more ceremonial or spiritual in framing. Neither is categorically better, but choose one that matches your intentions.

Group vs. individual sessions: Most Oregon centers offer individual sessions. Some offer small-group sessions, which are less expensive but provide less personalized attention.

Preparation and integration support: Oregon law requires facilitator contact before and after sessions, but the quality and depth of this support varies significantly. A center that offers only a single pre-session intake and minimal integration follow-up is not the same as one with three preparation sessions and ongoing integration therapy.

Step 3: Make Contact and Complete Intake

Most centers require an initial consultation call or meeting before booking. This allows both the facilitator and the client to assess fit and appropriateness. Contraindications for psilocybin services include:

  • Personal or first-degree family history of psychosis or schizophrenia
  • Current lithium use (serious interaction risk)
  • Unstable cardiovascular condition
  • Ongoing acute crisis

Oregon law requires facilitators to conduct an intake screening. Be honest about your history and medications — this protects you.

Step 4: Preparation Sessions

Reputable centers offer 1–3 preparation sessions before the psilocybin session itself. Use these to:

  • Clarify your intentions for the session
  • Understand what to expect during and after
  • Discuss any concerns about the experience
  • Build trust with your facilitator

Preparation quality correlates strongly with session outcomes. Don't rush this phase.

Step 5: The Session

Oregon sessions are conducted in licensed service center locations — not in homes or outdoor settings. Sessions typically last 4–8 hours depending on dose. You cannot drive after the session. Plan for a ride home.

Standard doses range from 15mg (lower, approximately 1–2g mushroom equivalent) to 25mg+ (higher, approximately 2–4g equivalent). Your facilitator will discuss dose with you; you can request a lower starting dose.

Step 6: Integration

The neuroplasticity window following a psilocybin session is real — the weeks after are when integration work is most potent. Schedule at least 1–2 integration sessions with your facilitator or an integration therapist within the first two weeks.

Cost and Access

Oregon service center sessions typically cost $500–$2,000+ depending on center, dose, and level of preparation and integration support included. This is not covered by most insurance (as of 2026), though advocacy for coverage is ongoing.

Sliding scale options exist: Some centers offer need-based sliding scale pricing. Inquire specifically — it is not always advertised.

Travel from out of state: Oregon's program is open to all adults regardless of state of residence. Many clients travel specifically to access legal services.

Important Reminders

  • Oregon psilocybin services are for adults 21+ only
  • You cannot be under the influence of other substances during your session
  • Facilitators cannot diagnose or treat mental health conditions — they facilitate the experience
  • For therapeutic goals, ongoing work with a licensed therapist (in addition to facilitation) is recommended
