Key Identification Feature

Stiff, straight stem (more rigid than semilanceata). Grassland habitat like semilanceata but typically lacks the pointed papilla. Northern European occurrence. Confirm spore print is dark purple-brown, not rusty.

⚠ Dangerous Lookalikes

Psilocybe semilanceata (Liberty Cap — both psychoactive; semilanceata has pointed nipple); Galerina marginata (DEADLY, usually on wood but can appear in grass); Conocybe species (toxic, rusty spores)

Notes

Less well-known than the Liberty Cap but grows in similar grassland habitats across northern Europe. Moderate potency (0.4-1.0% psilocybin estimated). The stiff straight stem distinguishes it from the wavy semilanceata stem.

Legal Status Warning Psilocybin-containing mushrooms are controlled substances in most jurisdictions. This guide is for educational purposes only. Wild foraging for psilocybin mushrooms may be illegal in your location. Never consume wild mushrooms without positive identification from an expert mycologist — misidentification can be fatal.
