Thai (Koh Samui) Mushroom Strain
Overview
Thai, also known as Koh Samui after the Thai island where specimens were originally collected, is one of the oldest cultivated cubensis strains with clear geographical provenance. Ethnobotanist and mycologist John W. Allen collected the original spores in Thailand in the early 1990s and distributed them through the cultivation community. The strain has been in continuous cultivation for over 30 years. Thai produces moderate-sized fruiting bodies with distinctive pale caps and is known as a reliable, fast-colonizing strain suited to warmer growing environments.
Effects & Experience
Thai produces a moderate, well-rounded experience with mild visual components and emotional warmth. Users often describe the experience as clear-headed and functional at lower doses — a common recreational choice in the Thai islands where psilocybin mushroom use has been documented in tourist culture for decades.
Potency Profile
Average cubensis potency — approximately 0.5–0.8% psilocybin. Reliable and predictable, making it appropriate for controlled dosing.
Cultivation Notes
One of the fastest-colonizing cubensis strains — particularly well-adapted to warmer temperatures (75–80°F). Excellent fruiting vigor, multiple dense flushes, and very high tolerance to grower error. Recommended for beginners who want reliable results in warm growing environments.
