Overview

B+ is one of the most popular Psilocybe cubensis strains in cultivation, second only to Golden Teacher in community recognition. Bred by a Florida cultivator known as Mr. G in the 1990s, B+ is notable for producing some of the largest fruiting bodies of any cubensis variety — caps regularly exceed 5cm in diameter, with thick, meaty stems. The name reportedly stands for 'Be Positive,' which aligns with the warm, mood-elevating character users frequently describe. It is an excellent second strain for growers who have completed PF Tek and are ready to scale to bulk substrate.

Effects & Experience

B+ is widely described as producing warm, social, and positive experiences with strong visual enhancement and a mood-lifting quality that earns its 'Be Positive' reputation. At moderate doses, it tends toward a more upbeat, energetic quality than Golden Teacher's introspective character — better suited to social settings or outdoor experiences. Anxiety is uncommon at standard doses.

Potency Profile

B+ tests in the moderate range, comparable to Golden Teacher at 0.5–0.9% total tryptamines by dry weight. Some batches test slightly higher. It is not a high-potency strain by any standard.

Dosage Note: Dose identically to Golden Teacher. No adjustment needed if switching from other standard cubensis varieties.

B+ is a vigorous, fast colonizer that tolerates a wide range of substrate types and environmental conditions. It produces large fruiting bodies and reasonably good yields. The strain is particularly forgiving of contamination pressure — its aggressive colonization often outpaces contaminants. Highly recommended for first monotub grows.
