Overview

The Cambodian strain was originally collected near the Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia and introduced to Western cultivation by John Allen (Mushroom John), an ethnomycologist who has documented psychedelic fungi across Southeast Asia. It has been one of the most reliable commercial cultivars for decades, prized for its speed, consistent yields, and easygoing cultivation requirements. The Cambodian's warm-climate origin means it colonizes aggressively and tolerates higher fruiting temperatures than many other cubensis strains.

Effects & Experience

Cambodian is typically described as producing an energetic, cerebral experience with moderate visual enhancement and a more active, less introspective quality than Golden Teacher. It is often recommended for daytime experiences or outdoor settings. Less body load than many strains at equivalent doses.

Potency Profile

Cambodian tests in the moderate range — 0.5–0.8% total tryptamines. Standard average cubensis potency.

Dosage Note: Standard cubensis dosing applies. The energetic character means some users find they want slightly more than their Golden Teacher baseline for depth; others find equivalent doses feel more intense due to the stimulating quality.

Cambodian is among the fastest-colonizing reliable producers in the cubensis world — comparable to Z-Strain in speed. It tolerates warm fruiting conditions well (up to 80°F) and produces consistent yields across multiple flushes. The strain is forgiving of beginner errors and is an excellent second or third strain for growers building their cultivation skills.
