Overview

Stargazer is a high-potency Psilocybe cubensis hybrid developed by competitive cultivators in the 2020s mycology community and placed in the spotlight by strong performance in potency competitions. It is a complex cross involving PE lineage and other high-potency genetics selected for maximized tryptamine content combined with more manageable cultivation than strict PE or APE. Stargazer produces striking fruiting bodies — the caps develop an upward-curving, star-gazing posture as they mature (giving the strain its name), often with pale coloration and distinctive blue bruising at the cap margins. The strain has developed a following rapidly within the advanced cultivation community as a next-generation high-potency cultivar that combines competition-grade potency with intermediate rather than advanced cultivation difficulty.

Effects & Experience

Stargazer produces very strong experiences — in the upper tier of cubensis potency. Users report intense visual effects with complex geometry, profound introspective depth, and a clear, expansive headspace that distinguishes it from heavier, more physically grounding PE-family experiences. The experience character is described as both powerful and luminous — less body load than strict PE, more visually transcendent. Not appropriate for inexperienced users.

Potency Profile

Very high — estimated 1.5–2.5% total tryptamines under good growing conditions. Competition samples have exceeded 2%. Treat as equivalent to upper-range Tidal Wave or lower APE for dosing purposes.

Dosage Note: Treat as a high-potency strain. If you have Golden Teacher experience at 2.5g, begin Stargazer at 0.8–1g maximum. Adjust upward only after confirming your response at the conservative starting dose.

Colonization
18–28 days
Fruiting Temp
70–76°F (21–24°C)
Humidity
90–95%

Intermediate cultivation difficulty — significantly more accessible than APE or Yeti due to the hybrid genetics contributing improved colonization speed and more reliable pinning than strict PE. Performs well in monotub grows with grain-to-bulk substrate. Spore viability is adequate for propagation via spore syringe, though liquid culture is preferred for maintaining consistent potency. Fruiting bodies develop the distinctive upward-curving cap posture most prominently on first flush.

Recommended methods: Monotub Tek, Grain Spawn, Agar Work
