Jack Frost Mushroom Strain
Overview
Jack Frost is a striking albino or near-albino strain known for its ghostly white fruiting bodies that produce a dramatic wavy cap edge as the mushroom matures. The caps frost at the edges with fine mycelium, giving the appearance of ice crystals — hence the name. Jack Frost is increasingly popular both for its visual appeal as a cultivar and for its above-average potency. It is widely believed to be derived from crosses involving White Teacher (itself a Golden Teacher albino variant) and other albino PE lineages.
Effects & Experience
Users describe Jack Frost as producing a balanced, clear experience with strong visual components and emotional warmth — similar in character to Golden Teacher but with noticeably more intensity. The albino genetics do not fundamentally change the experience character but do seem to correlate with higher psilocybin content relative to pigmented cubensis.
Potency Profile
Above average — typically 0.9–1.4% psilocybin by dry weight. Stronger than Golden Teacher, milder than straight Penis Envy. A good intermediate-potency strain for those stepping up from classic cubensis.
Cultivation Notes
Jack Frost colonizes efficiently and pins reliably for an albino strain. It produces photogenic, aesthetically distinctive fruits that are widely shared in cultivation communities. The wavy cap edges and frosted margins are most pronounced on the first flush. Performs well in monotub; compatible with most standard substrates.
