PES Amazonian Mushroom Strain
Overview
PES Amazonian is a stabilized isolation of the Amazonian Psilocybe cubensis strain refined and distributed by the Pacific Exotic Spore Association (PESA) — the same Pacific Northwest spore organization that gave the cultivation community the PESA strain. The 'PES' prefix distinguishes this isolation from the broader 'Amazonian' category, signaling that it has been selected for specific traits: notably vigorous colonization, dense fruiting body clusters, and reliably above-average potency. PES Amazonian has become one of the more popular vendor-distributed strains precisely because the PES selection process produced a more consistent isolate than generic Amazonian spores from unverified sources. It produces large, dark-capped fruiting bodies in dense clusters with classic Amazonian morphology — broad brown caps, medium stems — but with improved colonization speed and more predictable potency.
Effects & Experience
PES Amazonian delivers a potent, energetic experience with strong body sensation and vivid visual effects. Users frequently describe it as one of the more physically grounded high-potency cubensis experiences — the body component is prominent alongside strong visuals and introspective depth. At moderate doses (2–2.5g), PES Amazonian produces effects significantly more pronounced than standard beginner strains. Not recommended as a first strain for inexperienced users, though its cultivation profile is beginner-appropriate.
Potency Profile
Above average — consistently tests in the 0.9–1.3% total tryptamine range, reflecting the PES selection for potency. More potent than standard Amazonian and significantly above Golden Teacher or B+. Dose conservatively on first use.
Cultivation Notes
PES Amazonian is beginner-friendly in cultivation despite its above-average potency. Colonization is fast and aggressive — a key benefit of the PESA isolation. It performs excellently on PF Tek and scales well to monotub grows with bulk substrate. Dense cluster fruiting is characteristic, producing impressive first flushes. The strain benefits from brief cold shocking to trigger fruiting in grain-to-bulk setups but will fruit without it under good conditions.
