Biography

Tom Eckert is a co-architect of Oregon's Measure 109, the 2020 ballot initiative that established the first state-level legal psilocybin therapy program in the United States. With his late wife Sheri Eckert, Tom drafted the framework that became the legal basis for OHA-licensed service centers, facilitator training requirements, and client access protocols across Oregon.

After Measure 109's passage, Eckert founded InnerTrek, which now operates BOTH as a licensed psilocybin service center in Portland AND as one of the largest OHA-approved facilitator training programs in the state. Many facilitators working at other Oregon service centers were trained at InnerTrek. The organization continues to operate partly as a continuation of Sheri Eckert's legacy in the movement.

Why They Matter to the LearnShrooms Community

Every other U.S. state-level psilocybin program — Colorado's Natural Medicine Health Act, New Mexico's upcoming program, all proposed legislation in other states — descends in some way from Measure 109. Eckert is one of the people who designed that template.
