Psilocybin Laws in North Carolina
North Carolina has introduced psilocybin therapy legislation, driven significantly by veteran advocacy groups and the state's large military population. Fort Bragg (now Fort Liberty) and Camp Lejeune give North Carolina one of the largest veteran communities in the US.

Psilocybin remains Schedule I under North Carolina law. A veteran-focused therapeutic psilocybin bill has been introduced and is gaining bipartisan attention in the General Assembly.



Key Legislation
HB 672 (2025) — the Veterans Healing Act — proposed a licensed psilocybin therapy program with priority access for veterans with PTSD; introduced with bipartisan sponsors, in committee.
Clinical Trials
Duke University Medical Center and UNC Chapel Hill have participated in psychedelic research. Check ClinicalTrials.gov for Raleigh-Durham and Chapel Hill area enrolling studies.
