About
Entheogen Research, Integration and Education (ERIE) is a San Francisco Bay Area nonprofit organization founded in 2006 to support responsible use of entheogens through education, integration, and community. ERIE operates at the intersection of harm reduction and spiritual education, providing resources for people seeking to understand and integrate experiences with psilocybin and other entheogenic substances.
The organization's educational programming covers pharmacology, set and setting, harm reduction frameworks, and integration practices — filling a gap between clinical trial research and the large population using entheogens outside formal therapeutic settings. ERIE has been particularly active in building community infrastructure for integration support in the Bay Area, one of the most active regions for psychedelic culture in the United States.
As a pioneer in the pre-renaissance psychedelic education space, ERIE helped establish community norms and educational resources that the current generation of psychedelic educators and organizations have built upon.
Why It Matters
ERIE's two decades of operation make it one of the longest-running psychedelic education organizations in the US, having sustained community education through the criminalization era into the current renaissance.
