Psilocybin Laws in Rhode Island
Rhode Island has active psilocybin reform legislation and has been among the more progressive New England states on drug policy. Rhode Island legalized recreational cannabis in 2022 and psilocybin bills have moved quickly through committee.
Current Legal Status
Active Legislation
Psilocybin remains a Schedule I controlled substance under Rhode Island law. A therapeutic access bill passed the Rhode Island Senate Health Committee in 2025 and advocates expect a floor vote in 2026.

Key Legislation
S.0128 (2024) proposed a psilocybin therapeutic services act — passed Senate Health Committee. H.5923 (2025) companion bill introduced in the House. Rhode Island's small size and progressive politics make it a strong candidate for early adoption.
Clinical Trials
Brown University has broad research programs. Check ClinicalTrials.gov for Providence-area enrolling psilocybin studies.
Advocacy Organizations
Rhode Island Psychedelic Society, Healing Advocacy Fund.
