Solo vs. with a sitter -- honest comparison from someone who's done both

I've done about twelve sessions total -- roughly half solo, half with a trusted sitter. I have strong opinions about when each is appropriate and wanted to share them.
Solo advantages: complete freedom, no social performance layer, better for total surrender. Sitter advantages: genuine safety for high doses, someone to re-orient you, material support. The knowledge that another human is present and caring for you affects the quality of the experience positively.
My rule: over 3.5g, I want a sitter. Below 2.5g, I often prefer solo. The 2.5-3.5g range I assess case by case based on what I'm working on and my mental state going in.
If you do go solo, harm reduction basics: tell someone you trust where you are and when to expect to hear from you. Have their number accessible. Don't drive, don't answer the door. Have water and a blanket accessible.
