Dosing psilocybin is not like dosing other substances. The potency varies enormously between batches, strains, and individual biological factors. A standard '3.5g hero dose' can be anything from a moderate experience to an overwhelming one. How do people actually calibrate for their experience?

Start lower than you think you need to. 0.5g for a first experience to understand your personal sensitivity. If that's barely perceptible, 1-1.5g next time. Work up to your target dose over multiple sessions. Overshooting on the first experience is the most common way people have bad first experiences.

The 'same dose' isn't the same dose. Potency variation between batches can be 3:1 or more. Weigh your mushrooms on a scale that reads to 0.01g, not 0.1g. Consider lemon tekking (improves absorption consistency) or making a simple tea (allows titration). Environmental and set factors also change apparent potency significantly.

Intention matters for dose choice: moderate introspective work: 1.5-2.5g. Significant psychological material: 2.5-3.5g. Deep dissolution (mystical-type experience): 4g+, not recommended without experience and support. Microdosing: 0.05-0.3g. There's no magic number — these are starting points for calibration.
