Psilocybin and tinnitus — experiences and any evidence?

I have chronic tinnitus (constant ringing for 5 years, no effective treatment found). I've seen scattered anecdotal reports of people whose tinnitus improved after psilocybin. Is there any evidence for this and has anyone here experienced it?
There is essentially no peer-reviewed research specifically on psilocybin for tinnitus. What exists: anecdotal reports on forums (predominantly positive), and one or two case reports. The mechanistic theory: tinnitus may involve maladaptive neuroplasticity — the auditory cortex reorganizes in response to hearing damage and generates the phantom sound. Psilocybin's effect on neuroplasticity could theoretically reset this pattern. But this is speculation, not evidence.
Personal experience: I had moderate tinnitus for 3 years and tried psilocybin (3g) without any tinnitus-related intention. For about 2 weeks after the session, my tinnitus was noticeably quieter. It returned to baseline by week 3. I've since done two more sessions with more focused intention and had similar temporary reductions. Not a cure, but the pattern is consistent enough that I don't think it's placebo — though I can't rule it out.
Counter-experience: during my high-dose session (4g), my tinnitus was dramatically amplified and became distressing for much of the peak. It returned to normal afterward. Worth flagging that psilocybin's acute effects on auditory perception are significant and people with severe tinnitus should be prepared for the possibility that the session experience itself involves heightened awareness of the sound.
