Best substrate for first-time growers: BRF vs rye grain vs masters mix

I'm planning my first grow and the substrate question is overwhelming me. Brown rice flour + vermiculite (PF Tek) seems like the beginner recommendation everywhere, but people on the cultivation forums seem to think grain spawn is actually easier. What actually worked best for your first grow?
PF Tek for first grow, full stop. The jar is self-contained, contamination risk is lower, the process is forgiving, and you don't need pressure cooking. When you've got a few successful jars under your belt, then graduate to grain.
Switched to Uncle Ben's rice after two contaminated PF batches and haven't looked back. The sterile grain eliminates half the variables. I now recommend it to every first-timer.
Masters Mix is for people who already know what they're doing. Too much nutrition means too much contamination risk for someone still developing sterile technique. Learn the fundamentals on a forgiving substrate first.
